Who we are
Scott McLaren (1950 – 2019) founded McLaren Publications in 1977 when he purchased Canadian Stamp News and Canadian Coin News. Over the years, Scott bought and sold a stable of community newspapers, enticed brothers Blair and Drew to become his partners, and launched McLaren Press Graphics, a printing company focused on community papers and specialty publications.
With their eyes wide open to emerging opportunities, the brothers guided McLaren through rough waters to build one of Canada’s fastest growing commercial printing firms with sales ranking it in the top 40. Today, McLaren is a quality and service-focused printer bringing publishers one of Canada’s most technologically advanced and reliable printing services.
McLaren is a family owned and operated company with graphics industry roots, with an experienced team of professionals dedicated to customer satisfaction. Leadership at McLaren extends beyond the front office deep into our printing operations. From premedia to pressroom, bindery and shipping, our team includes experienced leaders at every level trained and empowered to meet your needs from order right through to delivery and beyond.
McLaren and our staff take our belief in good corporate citizenship seriously.
As a company, we are a contributor to the South Muskoka Memorial Hospital Foundation and actively promote the arts in Muskoka as sponsors of the Muskoka Music Festival. Together with our staff, we actively volunteer, participate and contribute to a wide range of local charitable activities and organizations.
Blair McLarenIN MEMORIAM – 1951-2011
In 1984 Blair joined his brother Scott to form McLaren Press. Blair and Scott were happy to have Drew join them ten years later and for twenty-seven years Blair poured his heart and soul and endless hours into making McLaren Press one of top printers in Canada. Blair used to say ink ran in his veins and without a doubt it did; his drive didn’t ever falter. The success of McLaren Press could not have been accomplished without his dedicated press and production crews. Blair strongly believed in team work and was never afraid to get his hands dirty, helping out where he could no matter what department or time of day or night. Because Blair treated his employees with the utmost respect it was returned because of the man he was. He always was looking for ways to say thank you to his team. Whether Blair was outdoors cooking breakfast, lunch or dinner for them or organizing company functions, he wanted everyone to be acknowledged and appreciated. To extend thanks even further, Blair introduced the employee recognition awards and the company golf tournament. Combined into one event, it was a day that Blair took pride in and looked forward to every year. It gave him a chance to bond with and have fun with all of the employees outside of the work environment.
Blair’s enthusiasm for McLaren Press took him far and wide outside of the plant as well. Blair travelled seeking out the newest technology. He spent many hours visiting other printing companies, suppliers and customers. He was always brainstorming, finding the best way to satisfy their customers from the print end of things- always staying one step ahead. If a customer was having difficulty with files, Blair would travel to their business to help them produce their files so the customer would be happy with the final print of their product. His dedication was above and beyond. Blair was well respected throughout the print industry and through his many colleagues, he formed friendships that lasted throughout his life.
Blair left his mark not only at McLaren Press but in the print industry itself. He will be missed by all who knew him.

We use soya-based inks to reduce environmentally destructive volatile organic compound (VOC) emissions. Our ink-saver computer software prepares your job using under colour removal (UCR) and gray component replacement (GCR) to achieve the optimal total ink coverage for each page using less ink. We all must do our best to limit our impact on our planet.
